Orange jam.
(In Portuguese)
I needed some orange jam to use in a cake recipe, so I decided to go for a classic take on fruit jam. Actually, the most complicated part was freeing the orange from all of the peel, the skin, the seeds...
Wohoo, anybody home?
(In Portuguese)
I know, I know.
It's today that most families unite to celebrate christmas.
But in our case, we celebrated ahead schedule, because now not everyone can be here.
So today lunch was really simple, and at night we attended a dinner party thrown by a
family we're friends with.
Tanned bread.
never in the trash can.
The other day, I baked a lot of christmas cookies. And because of a whim of mine, I have cut them again after baking, so that they would all be round and equal.
Well, what to do with 3 cups leftover cookie crumble? Bread!
Squirrel!
(In Portuguese)
To brighten up the life of a boy who's got a serious flu and can't even leave home,
I baked some squirrels.
Special breakfast.
(In Portuguese)
Since the year is ending and everything seems like a wacky race,
at least breakfast can be cute.
Mini panetone that simply showed up at my place + tea in the teapot
that I just received as a gift. :)
(Thanks, Ric!)
Roasted dinner.
(In Portuguese)
I like many things, one of them is food with a roasted crust.
So today I roasted sweet potatoes to eat with some broccoli (apparently, the wad I bought will never end).
Zucchini and ricota pancakes.
(In Portuguese)
This time I was inspired by Flavia, I made pancakes for lunch.
I like them because they're easy to make and always delicious.
Banana spread.
Banana spread. Yummm.
I still don't know what to do so that it won't acquire that pinkish/lilac tone, which I find a little strange. But it's so good on a bread as a breakfast!
Buttery bread.
(In Portuguese)
I am insisting in the bread making trials until I get the hang of it. And I consider this one to be an advance. :)
Hommus.
Not made to look good...
A trick.
(In Portuguese)
Obs: the previous post, as well as this one and the next are being written while I eat some junk pre-cooked noodles, purely because of hunger and tiredness due to a crazy week.
Well, the trick is something quick.
Whenever you have at a home a cake that's getting old, drying, and isn't so much of a hit anymore
(and no one wants to throw food away, because that's not something ok to be done)
it gains a whole new appeal if turned into a toast, nice and warm.
I had mine alone with coffee. But if it is the case, having it with butter/jam/honey or whatever is great too.
Really simple.
(In Portuguese)
The foto was awful, so I'm skiping this part.
Lazy quick lunch: rice and sautee brocoli.

Follow-up.
I demonstrate my gratitude offering cookies.
(In Portuguese)
To demonstrate my gratitude, the way that works best for me is to bake something sweet.
I chose this recipe because I think it's sophisticated, and as this is a big thanks, I also baked some chocolate and nut cookies that I adapted from Patrícia.
Visitors!
updating: the cake and things owned by my baby visitor who came with her parents. :)
(In Portuguese)
Today I had lunch at a small restaurant here in college, it was rice and beans with a salad that was so-so.
Cookies!
Bread with mango chutney.
(In Portuguese)
Today at lunch all I did was set the table. My boyfriend and his mom made us gnochi with chilly tomato sauce. Yum! :)

Even so... I also cooked today. Whenever possible, I make myself some snack to take to work, because I always get hungry in the middle of the afternoon.
Today I'm testing a bread recipe, it makes a loaf.
Lentils.
(In Portuguese)
Well, in my home we have always eaten lentils with rice, in the same way we eat rice and beans.
Sometimes we even make some farofa and stuff.
Today I cooked quick lentils, but I cooked plenty of it so that I'll have some lunch ready in advance for the first days of the week
